Bush Meat
Bushmeat is the common term for raw or just minimally processed meat from any animals hunted and slaughtered in Africa – including elephants, antelopes, and gorillas! For two serious reasons it’s banned in the United States, the main one is that it can carry fatal diseases and be really toxic and it encourages illegal trading as well. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has extremely strict warnings against bringing bushmeat into the United States. The offense carries a hefty fine of $250,000 so if you ever thought of trying bush meat – think twice!
