Hammer’s grandfather was regarded as a prominent figure as he has interests in pharmaceuticals and other ventures. Controversially, during the cold war, his grandfather continued to trade with the Soviet Union and was involved in the communist and socialist movements. Also, he was an advocate for cancer research. Forbes valued his net worth in the 1980s at $200 million, as of 2016 it’s revenue is $10,090 billion.
